If you’re down the Wildwood shore this upcoming Memorial Day weekend (and really, where else would you be?), make sure to check out the hot new ride at Morey’s Piers — KONG! Originally from the 1970s, KONG has returned — reincarnated and re-imagined! You’ll find KONG  sporting his “I Love Wildwood” t-shirt on Surfside Pier,  located at 25th Street and the Boardwalk in North Wildwood (right across from Gateway 26).

The Return of KONG

Check out this short video highlighting some of the work involved in creating KONG.

KONG & Co.

Opening along with the new KONG ride is a brand-spanking new retail space, KONG & Co. This 3000 foot attraction offers KONG and Morey’s Piers paraphernalia, comfortable chairs to relax in, and even mobile device recharging stations! Try one of their chocolate covered bananas while your there, I hear people are going ape over them.

Raging Waters

Along with KONG, Raging Waters Water Park will be opening its gates this Memorial Day weekend. Make sure to bring the kids along for some slippin’ and slidin’ adventures in the over 175,000 gallons of liquid excitement!

More at Morey’s Piers this Memorial Day Weekend

There’s plenty more to do at Morey’s Piers this Memorial Day Weekend.  Here’s a press release from our friend Maggie at Morey’s HQ:

The Wildwoods, NJ (May 14, 2015) – Things are about to get “wild” at the Jersey Shore. Morey’s Piers & Beachfront Water Parks, the classic seaside attraction located in the Wildwoods, NJ, will ring in the summer season with the opening of Raging Waters Water Park on Saturday, May 23, 2015.  Guests can slip and slide on exhilarating water rides such as the River Adventure, Shotgun Falls, the 175,000 gallon interactive activity pool and two interactive kiddie play areas.

All three of Morey’s amusement piers – Mariner’s, Surfside, and Adventure – will be open from Friday through Monday,  May 22- 25, giving guests a glimpse of what promises to be one of the “wildest” summers on record on the Wildwood boardwalk, highlights include:

KONG:  An iconic boardwalk landmark in early 1970s, the new gorilla themed amusement ride will open to the public Memorial Day weekend on Surfside Pier. KONG, snorting smoke and fog, will sport an “I love Wildwood” t-shirt and clutch one of Wildwood’s well-known tram cars while hanging from the 60 feet tall lighthouse at the ride’s center. Eight vintage shark themed ride vehicles will duck and dive around the infamous gorilla, bringing riders 26 feet in air. After sunset, KONG will light up the night sky with a rotating light on top of the lighthouse and enhanced LED lighting outlining each ride vehicle.

Underneath the ride is Kong & Co. a new 3,000 square foot retail space offering charging stations and comfy chairs, as well as chocolate covered frozen bananas and merchandise for purchase.
